This will sound weird, but hear me out. I ran out of shaving cream this morning. Worried that bar soap wouldn't cut it (pun) on a weekend's worth of stubble I grabbed the next best thing: Ashley's girly shave gel stuff that I ordered for her. Closest. Shave. Ever. Took me about half the time it normally takes to shave. Normally even shaving cream doesn't cut down razor drag on that much stubble, but this didn't even feel like I was shaving. I might never buy shaving cream again.
